Westport Smarter Travel wins
Smarter Travel Areas Competition Award

Minister of State, at the Department of Transport, Tourism & Sport, Michael Ring TD today announced the news that Westport has won the Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport's Smarter Travel Areas competition.

Winning the competition means the Department will provide funding over 5 years to transform Westport into a world class SmarterTravel demonstration zones.

The Westport Smarter Travel bid provided data under four category headings - Project Ambition; Design of Project; Information and Behavioural Change Campaigns; Delivery and Implementation Plan.

The bid was launched by cycling Legend Sean Kelly on St.Patricks Day 2011.
